Membership Conditions
In applying for New/Renewal Membership the applicant agrees in full to the following, which also applies to current members:
1. Abide by the terms and conditions detailed in Kung-Fu Wushu New Zealand (KWNZ) Constitution, including Members' Obligations and Rights, Dispute Resolution and other sections.
2. Abide by the terms and conditions detailed in Kung-Fu Wushu New Zealand (KWNZ) Policy Guidelines, including Member Protection Policy; Child Protection Policy; Complaints and Dispute Resolution Policy; Anti-Corruption Policy; and Competition Manipulation Policy.
3. Every applicant for membership must consent in writing to becoming a member, using the form prescribed by KWNZ. The signed written consent of every Member to become a Society/KWNZ Member shall be retained in the Society/KWNZ membership records.
4. Unless otherwise agreed or stated, paid membership of a club or individual is compulsory in order to participate in any KWNZ, Oceania or International sport or traditional kung-fu wushu competition, festival, seminar, workshop or other event.
5. Participants in Oceania events must have New Zealand Permanent Residency or New Zealand Citizenship, while participants in IWUF events must have New Zealand Citizenship, and have their principal place of residence as New Zealand for two years immediately prior to the date of competition.
6. Actively support and promote KWNZ including its competitions and events.
7. Seek prior permission from KWNZ Executive to use the KWNZ Name or Logo, or former NZKWF Name or Logo.
8. Payment of membership is due at the time of application and thereafter by 31st March each subsequent year. Membership fees paid between 1 January and 30 June will be for the full annual amount and cover the period to 31 December the same year.
9. Members who join between 1 July and 31 December shall pay half the annual amount, with the full amount due on 1 January the following year.
10. Membership is only ‘Active’ when the current subscription and any arrears have been paid in full, otherwise such membership shall be deemed ‘Passive’ with no voting or other rights, until all arrears are paid in full.
11. New members must submit (if requested) their martial arts resume with passport size photo and agree to provide verification of content. Renewing members are to provide (if requested) an updated martial arts resume where appropriate.
12. Subject to funding/availability; new members may be issued a membership card, the cost of which is included in the membership fee. Lost/replacement cards will incur a $10 fee plus postage.
13. New members must disclose the nature and date of any criminal convictions that might adversely impact the credibility, operation or public perception of KWNZ.
14. New members must disclose whether they as the applicant, or their organisation, or any of its principal members, have ever been refused membership or expelled, or been the subject of a membership suspension or conditional expulsion order, from any other martial arts organization.
15. New members must disclose their association to, or any positions held, in any other martial arts organization/s.
16. The Federation Executive reserves the right to request or obtain through its own means, additional information relating to any disclosure and/or take into account any information contained in the disclosure or obtained thereafter, in its decision whether to approve, decline or make provisional, any application for membership.
17. Any information in a member's application that is proven to be false or deliberately misleading may result in the application being declined, or membership of the applicant and their club being terminated without refund.
18. Behave in a manner so as to preserve the integrity and values of sport Kung-Fu Wushu and Traditional Chinese Martial Arts and KWNZ, and to safeguard the interests and well-being of the public at large.
19. Any attempt to undermine the integrity and values of KWNZ or its officials and officeholders may result in disciplinary action and/or suspension or disqualification of membership or any office held in KWNZ without refund.
20. The decision of the KWNZ Executive on any application for membership shall be final.
