Anti-Doping
New Zealand Wushu is aligned to Drug-Free Sport NZ (DFSNZ) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) through its membership to the International Wushu Federation. The NZ Wushu Executive is committed to eradicating the use of prohibited performance enhancing substances in sport and will look to introduce anti-doping in NZ Wushu competitions over 2012-2013.
Anti-Doping Testing
Drug-Free Sport NZ has a comprehensive Anti-Doping Testing Programme covering urine and blood sample collection and analysis, results management, testing programme statistics and athlete whereabouts. Also check out Athlete Information - Blood and Urine Sampling. These pamphlets contain the rights and responsibilities of athletes who are subject to doping control. This includes the procedures for sample collection, testing, results management and what, as an athlete, you are entitled to expect.
Anti-Doping Education
Drug-Free Sport NZ has a range of educational activities including: Anti-Doping Seminars, Athlete Outreach, Resources, and an
On-Line Video Seminar. Athletes should familiarise themselves with the latest World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List, which identifies all the current prohibited substances and methods. This list is updated every year, is released in October and applies from 1 January the following year. PLUS: The NZ Sports Anti-Doping Rules 2012, which will be applied to NZ Wushu competitions.
