‘Wushu Friendship Exchange’
The Shaolin Monks will dazzel Wellington demonstrating their awsome Kung Fu skills with local Kung Fu teachers and students on Saturday 9 February.
But Wellington will be well represented by local Kung Fu and Tai Chi teachers and students, including a demonstration by past All China Wushu and Tai Chi Champion Shi Mei Lin, Chinese Martial Arts Association Kung Fu Master Peter Sue and others.
The NZKWF has confirmed arrangements with the Wellington City Council and the Chinese New Year Festival organizers to host a special ‘wushu friendship exchange’ on Saturday 9 February between various NZKWF teachers and students and the Shaolin Monks. The exchange is open to NZKWF members, friends, family, wushu enthusiasts in general and invited guests.

FACE OFF: The Shaolin Monks (pictured above) will meet local Kung Fu masters and students including Shi Mei Lin (pictured performing a Shaolin sword form).
The exchange, at the Chinese Anglican Centre in Wellington, will commence at 5.00pm with a Lion Dance and going through to 7.00pm, followed by dinner at 7.30pm in Wellington City. Due to limited places at the dinner, NZKWF Executive, Instructors and Senior Students performing on the day will be given first option. Everyone is required to cover their own costs.
All NZKWF adult students demonstrating will be asked to donate $5 upon entry, with instructors and children free. Spectators $5 per person (children free). Proceeds after costs will be donated to the Monks.
The Monks will also be performing public shows in Auckland at Sky City on Thu & Fri 7/8 Feb and at the Wellington MFC on Sat 16 Feb. Be in quick as Tickets on sale now at Ticketek and selling fast. The Monks will also give another performance for the local Chinese community and others at the Auckland Aotea Centre in Monday 18 February (not through Ticketek).
