NZ Wushu athlete Nick Grimwod will compete at the 2008 Wushu Games in Beijing.
'Wushu Tournament Beijing 2008', between 21-24 August 2008 (day 13-16 of the Olympic Games) will be held as a tribute to Chinese culture and will be a key milestone towards Wushu becoming an Olympic sport.

Still performing and winning on the world stage at 86 years of age, the oldest competitor at the International Wushu Federation's 3rd World Traditional Wushu Championships held in Shiyan China during November 2008. Hundreds of competitors gathered in Shiyan from around the world, including Orlando Garcia from New Zealand who won gold and silver.

ABOUT the New Zealand Kung-Fu Wushu Federation Inc. (NZKWF)
International Status
The New Zealand Kung-Fu Wushu Federation (NZKWF), first known as the Wellington Region Chinese Martial Arts Association, was among the 31 countries and territories present at the inaugural meeting of the International Wushu Federation (IWUF).
National Status
The New Zealand Kung-Fu Wushu Federation has undergone several stages of evolution as it has matured into a government recognised National Sport Organization (NSO) by Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC). The dates and organisations below depict the evolution of the NZKWF and significant historical development of wushu in New Zealand and Oceania, since the formation of the IWUF in 1990. The NZKWF still has many of its foundation members, which is a sign of strong loyalty and commitment.
Officially recognized by Sport & Recreation New Zealand as the National Sport Organisation (NSO) and peak body for Kung-Fu Wushu in New Zealand.
Shaolin Monks in Wellington
The Shaolin Monks will demonstrate their awsome Kung Fu skills with some of Wellington's Kung Fu students and teachers on Saturday 9 February.
